On Saturday and Sunday, August 13-14, on the occasion of the Feast of the Assumption, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, Patriarchal Vicar for the Archdiocese of Eastern United States, paid a pastoral visit to St. Aphraim Church in Washington D.C.

On Saturday, His Eminence was received by Very Rev. Father Andrew Bahhi, and the parishioners of St. Aphraim at the church, where His Eminence gave a lecture about the life and the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God.

His Eminence Kawak and Father Andrew celebrated the Holy Liturgy (Qurobo) on Sunday, during which His Eminence ordained deacons to the rank of Quroyo (Reader): Zaid Hindo and Raed Hamadan; and to the rank of Mzamrone (Chanter): David Hindo, Alex Hindo, Daniel Hamadan, Mark Suleiman, Maurice Namman and Yousef Sofia.

Following the Holy Liturgy and ordination, His Eminence, Father Andrew and the newly ordained deacons accepted congratulations from the parishioners after which they enjoyed lunch together.
