Holy Week was celebrated this past week by His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak and all of the Eastern United States parishes of the Syriac Orthodox Church.
Among the holidays celebrated, in anticipation of Easter, were Palm Sunday, which is in commemoration of Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem, Naherih, which marks the beginning of Holy Week with the Parable of the Ten Virgins, the Washing of the Feet, which is a commemoration of Jesus washing the apostles’ feet to teach us humility, Maundy Thursday Holy Qurobo, in commemoration of the establishment of the Eucharist, and Good Friday, the day of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion.
