National Workshop on Christian Unity

23 Apr

On April 18, 2018 and April 19, 2018, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak was a key speaker at the National Workshop on Christian Unity in Silver Springs, MD.  His speech was regarding Christians in Syria, their struggles, the Syrian Crisis, and the challenges faced by Syrian immigrants in the United States.

His Eminence spoke for approximately 45 minutes and had a Q & A with the audience afterwards. He held the speech twice, both in the afternoon of April 18, 2018 and the morning of April 19, 2018.  The National Workshop on Christian Unity is held once a year and brings together the ecumenical staff and other interested parties, mostly from the Catholic, Episcopal, Lutheran, Methodist, and Evangelical traditions with around 250-300 people attending. The main focus of this year’s workshop was brought to life with the theme: God’s Power Nurturing Communities of Witness and Dialogue.  This event provides an opportunity to better understand what Christians are doing in the area of advocacy at both the local and national levels.
