Finding Kind Screening Update

On April 18, 2015, the Archdiocesan Education Committee hosted a screening of Finding Kind, a documentary filmed by the Kind Campaign. The Kind Campaign is an anti-bullying initiative that focuses specifically on girl-on-girl bullying. Although the Kind Campaign usually reaches out through girls-only school assemblies across the country, a few months ago the organization gave away 500 free screenings of the documentary and assembly packet. Our Archdiocese was fortunate enough to be the recipient of one of these screenings.

God's Not Dead Movie Night

The Archdiocese Educational Programs Committee presents the showing of “God’s Not Dead” movie. All are welcome to join us for our first spiritual movie night held on May 15th at 7:30PM in the social hall of the church of the Virgin Mary – 644 Paramus Rd. Paramus, NJ 07652. This movie is rated PG – Children who will sit quietly are welcome.

Archdiocese Egg Hunt

Our Archdiocese Easter egg hunt was held on April 11, 2015 at the Assyrian Orthodox Church of the Virgin Mary. It was a beautiful sunny day, beside for a little wind, it all went well.

We had a great turn out. Children from all our churches attended. The event started off with educating our youngsters on the importance of taking communion. Ramona Malki did an excellent job on explaining to the children the meaning of communion, what the symbols on the communion bread mean, how we are supposed to prepare ourselves before receiving communion and after. New York, NY – The Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches is proud to present its official campus fellowship: Orthodox Christian Campus Ministries (OCCM). Recognizing the need for a spiritual support system for young Orthodox Christians during their crucial college years, the Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches imparts its blessing to its official campus fellowship – OCCM – to begin the work of uniting our youth under one banner where they can come together to meet, pray, learn from one another and to enjoy Christian fellowship.

This documentary was created to help end and bring awareness to girl – against – girl bullying. Unfortunately this is a sign of the world we now live in.

New York, NY – The fathers of the Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches were blessed by the presence of His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II at their meeting this past Monday, March 16, 2015, at the headquarters of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Manhattan. His Holiness affirmed his commitment to the Standing Conference, stating that he has been a proud member of SCOOCH since 1996 and has every intention of remaining an active member of the organization.
