Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim Welcomes Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan, Archbishop of the Western Diocese
On Sunday, February 27th (All Souls Sunday) His Eminence Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan, Archbishop of the Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese for the Western United States, celebrated the Holy Liturgy at St. Mark’s Cathedral.
During the Liturgy Mor Cyril welcomed Archbishop Eugene Kaplan assuring, noting that it has been a pleasure working with His Eminence over the years and witnessing both the Eastern and Western Archdioceses grow and flourish. Archbishop Aphrem Karim added that he and Archbishop Eugene Kaplan at this juncture are working together with our Malankara Archdiocese on internal issues relevant to that Archdiocese. In closing he assured Archbishop Kaplan of our continued prayers and cooperation and reminded him that St. Mark’s Cathedral is always his home. Archbishop Eugene Kaplan thanked Mor Cyril for the warm welcome and delivered the sermon of the Sunday of All Souls.
Archbishop Kaplan’s visit also afforded the Convention Committee working on the 48th Annual Archdiocesan Convention to meet with him and give a status report on the preparations and arrangements. Along with His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim, committee members present included Sait Samuel, Samira Yunan and Elias Sarkar.
This year’s convention will be held on July 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th.
