Archdiocese Executive Council Holds a Special Meeting on Midland Ave. Progress
On Saturday, October 8th, the Archdiocesan Executive Council held an all day session at the Archdiocesan complex in Teaneck, New Jersey, for the sole purpose of reviewing plans for the Midland Avenue property. Final plan approval from the Borough of Paramus, is imminent and it was felt necessary to immediately put the wheels in motion for what lays ahead.
After much discussion and deliberation the Council proposed focusing initially on the Youth Center and having the Archdiocese take on the ownership and responsibility of the building of the Multi Function Hall. His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim clarified that the renovation of the existing building is primary and is part and parcel of the Youth Center. Once renovated, this building would immediately begin serving the needs of our youth, throughout the entire Archdiocese, as a retreat and meeting center. Sleeping accommodations along with meeting rooms and the chapel would all work well together and would provide the perfect spiritual and fraternal environment that our youth need. The building of the Multi Function Hall would complete the Youth Center requirement in totality.
Key decisions taken included preparing a project plan, reviewing fund raising methods, developing a comprehensive communication plan and the involvement of members of the clergy and the parish board president.
