Rev Fr. Edward Hanna Elevated to Khouroyo (Archpriest)
On Friday, October 28, 2011, His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim celebrated Holy Qurobo (Divine Liturgy) at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Southfield, Michigan, to elevate Fr. Edward Hanna to the Rank of Archpriest (Khouroyo). Also present was Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan, Archbishop of the Western United States and Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Archbishop of the Patriarchal Office in Damascus, in addition to a large number of clergy from different parishes. His Eminence presided over the special ceremony and delivered an inspirational sermon expressing his appreciation to the services of Fr. Hanna and the parish of Sts. Peter and Paul. Afterward the ceremony a letter of blessings from our Holy Father, His Holiness Mor Ignatius Zakka Iwas, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, was read. The the Very Rev. Fr. Edward Hanna delivered a moving address to thank His Eminence and express his love to the parishioners.
After the Holy Mass, the parish of Sts. Peter and Paul hosted a banquet to honor Khouroyo Edward Hanna and all the distinguished guests. The program started with The Lord’s Prayer (Aboon-D-Bashmayo) and included a keynote address form Archbishop Karim, congratulatory addresses from the attending Archbishops, few short speeches on behalf of the Church organizations, thank you addresses from Fr. Hanna and his family, in addition to hymns select for this occasion.
The Very Rev. Fr. Hanna was ordained priest for Sts. Peter and Paul Church in December 1988. Since then he served this parish and the extended community with great dedication. The Parish of Sts. Peter and Paul congratulate Khouroyo Edward Hanna on his elevation and pray that he is blessed with good health to continue his mission.
