His Eminence Paid a Pastoral Visit to Roanoke Virginia
On Saturday, December 10, His Eminence Archbishop Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim paid a pastoral visit to at Saint Philoxenus of Mabug Church in Ranoke, VA to celebrate the patron-Saint’s Day. A large crowd of parishioners and friends of the parish gathered together for the 4th Annual Dinner Party, organized by the families of the church. During this occasion His Eminence Cyril emphasized to the attendees the importance of keeping the Syriac heritage and church traditions alive in our daily lives.
On Sunday, December the 11th, His Eminence celebrated the Holy Qurobo (Divine Liturgy) at Saint Philoxenus of Mabug Church in Ranoke, VA. Deacons and the choir assisted him. During his enlightening sermon, His Eminence Cyril highlighted the virtues Mor Philoxenos of Mabug, patron-Saint of the Church, who is as an example of a Christian who was willing to sacrifice everything for his faith. He also elaborated on Mor Philoxenos’s influences and contributions to the Syriac Orthodox Church in the field of Theology.
Nearing the end of his sermon, His Eminence warmly conveyed his kind wishes for a blessed Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. He also commended and expressed his appreciation to the parishioners for their hard work and dedication to the Church.
After Holy Qurobo (Divine Liturgy) His Eminence attended lunch in the Church hall, prepared by the Ladies Auxiliary and chatted with the parishioners.*
