Cardinal Timothy Dolan Offers a Special Mass for kidnapped Archbishops
On Thursday May 2nd, 2013, His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim, our Archbishop, joined His Eminence Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, for a special Mass offered on behalf of the two kidnapped prelates in Syria; Mor Gregorios Yuhanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yazeji. During the welcoming remarks and the sermon His Eminence the Cardinal expressed his solidarity with the Christians in Syria and prayed for the well-being and immediate release of the two Archbishops and other clergy and laity who are in captivity. His message was heard loud and clear and resonated in the magnificent Cathedral.
Also attending the special Mass were His Eminence Archbishop Mor Titus Yeldho of the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Archdioceses in North America, His Excellency Mor Gregory Mansour, Bishop of the Syriac Maronite Eparchy, as well as bishops and clergy from the Roman Catholic Church and Orthodox Churches. Rev. Fr. Eli Shabo, along with some parishioners from St. Mark’s Cathedral, accompanied His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim.
After the Mass, the hierarchs and clergy were invited for a breakfast at Cardinal Dolan’s headquarters, during which His Eminence Archbishop Karim discussed with the sympathetic Cardinal ways to help and expedite the release of the two Archbishops.
