Beth Gazo App 2023 Update

13 Feb

Under the auspices of His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, the Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese of the Eastern Untied States and Beth Mardutho Syriac Institute updated the Beth Gazo Portal app with more than 3,000 new recordings according to various Syriac chanting traditions, more than tripling the number of app recordings. In addition, the existing audio files of Patriarch Jacob III were digitally enhanced by Samer Jazrawy with the help of Fr. Alan Shaltan.

The new recordings added this month are as follows:

♫ The tradition of Edessa by the Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Tarzi (ca. 565 recordings)

♫ The tradition of Sadad by deacons Habib al-Arab and Hanna Qas Ni’matallah Darrouj (ca. 330 recordings)

♫ The tradition of Azikh by Yusef Qas Gabriel (ca. 340 recordings)

♫ The tradition of Tur Abdin by Koury Gabriel (ca. 275 recordings)

♫ The tradition of Tur Abdin by deacon Heytler Dag (ca. 420 recordings)

♫ The tradition of Malankara by N.K. Koruthu Malpan (ca. 350 recordings)

The Beth Gazo Portal app was launched back in 2018 and already contains the traditions of Mardin (Patriarch Jacob III and Fr. Yusuf Özmen), Tur Abdin (Mor Gabriel Monastery), Ma’arrat Saydnaya (Fr. Alan Shaltan), Kharput (Chor. Abdulnur Samuel), and Edessa (Fr. Adday Thoma and Abdulghani Boulos).

The Beth Gazo Portal can be downloaded for free from Google Play:

And from the Apple Store:

If you already have the app, you do not need to update. You already have the new 3,000 recordings.

We thank Shamosho Addai Maher for preparing the digital files and necessary data to import these 3,000 recordings. The app was coded under the direction of Jatin Gadhiya of Forefront Infotech according to specs and software architecture designs by George A. Kiraz.
