During the suicide bombings on the eve of the New Year, 13 Syriac Orthodox faithful were killed in Qamishly.
His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II presided over the Evening (Ramsho) prayer at St. Ephraim Church in Rhode Island. During the prayer, His Holiness conducted a special service for the martyrs of Qamishly.
He spoke about the painful experience that our Christian people are living in Syria due to terrorist attacks and bombings.
The prayer was attended by His Eminence Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Patriarchal Assistant and Patriarchal Delegate at the Archdiocese of Eastern USA, Very Rev. Raban Maroutha Hanna, Very Rev. Raban Saliba Kassis and Fr. Alan Shaltan as well as representatives of the Greek Orthodox, Greek Catholic and Armenian Orthodox Church who came to participate in this service and pray for the repose of the souls of the martyrs.
