His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II participated in the International Meeting organized by Sant’Egidio Community entitled: “Thirst for Peace: Religions and Cultures in Dialogue” which took place in Assisi from September 18th to 20th 2016.
The meeting comes on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the foundation of the community of Sant’Egidio.
Their Eminences Mor Clemis Daniel Kourieh, Metropolitan of Beirut, and Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Patriarchal Vicar in the Archdiocese for the Eastern USA, also participated.
His Eminence Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak gave a speech in a panel on the Ecumenism of Mercy.
During the special service for peace which was presided over by their Holinesses: Pope Francis, Patriarch Bartholomew I and Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, His Holiness Patriarch Aphrem II prayed for peace in Syria and for the safe return of the abducted Archbishops of Aleppo Mor Gregorius Youhanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yaziji.
