On Sunday, November 5th, 2017, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak paid a pastoral visit to Mor Philoxenus of Mabug Parish in Roanoke, VA in celebration of their establishment’s 10th anniversary.
During his visit, His Eminence celebrated the Holy Liturgy of Qudosh ito (sanctification of the church), which marks the beginning of the Syriac Orthodox Liturgical Year. He was assisted by Reverend Father Ibrahim Barakat, the parish priest. His Eminence was also accompanied by a youth group from New Jersey’s Saint Mark’s Cathedral.
In his sermon, His Eminence congratulated the parishioners for the establishment of the church and encouraged them to continue working enthusiastically.
