His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, accompanied by V. Rev. Fr. Augeen Alkhouri, on March 23rd, 2018, attended the Christian Arab and Middle Eastern Churches Together (CAMECT) Meeting in New York, NY at the Armenian Prelacy.
Topics of great value discussed at the meeting included updates on the churches in the Middle East, how to broaden engagement of all churches and communities in CAMECT, specific efforts that members should undertake, updates from In Defense of Christians, and how to reach out to media and political leaders in New York and Washington, D.C.
CAMECT is a common effort of faith communities in the United States who belong to or are associated with their respective churches in the Middle East. They gather twice a year or as need arises for the purpose of communion, common services, preaching the gospel, and witnessing and dialogue. They are willing to associate themselves with others in the Ecumenical Movement who share their common values and goals.
