On Saturday June 8th, 2019 His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak assisted by Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Chamoun and Very Rev. Fr. Aziz Hadodo inaugurated the Sayfo Memorial Monument that was erected on the centennial of the Syriac Genocide Sayfo 1915-2015. This monument was sponsored by the St. Barsaumo Charitable Fund in memory of Very Rev. Fr. Numan Aydin & Very Rev. Fr. Shamoun Asmar and all the deceased members of Mor Barsawmo Church. Consecration and Prayers were followed by a lecture given by keynote speaker Mr. Kemal Yalcin on the topic of Sayfo and Syriac Folk Hero Semun Hanne Haydo. Did talk in regards to his book and the first hand testimonials from many families from Tur Abdin paint a grin picture of the historical event which took place between 1913-1918 known as SAFYO.
