On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at Mor Gabriel Church, on the occasion of the Mid Lent, and for the Feasts of the Elevation of the Holy Cross and for Abgar Malko (King Abgar). His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak assisted him in the Qurobo, in the presence of the Very Reverend Fathers priests. In his sermon, His Holiness expressed his joy to assemble again with the holy faithful of Mor Gabriel’s parish. He then spoke about the three occasions and focused on the importance of the Holy Cross in the life of Christians. He stressed that we worship Him who was crucified on the Cross. His Holiness contended that he who does not believe in the Holy Cross, does not believe in Him who was crucified for our salvation. His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak welcomed His Holiness in the Archdiocese of the Eastern United States, “his home,” and conveyed to him the love of all the faithful. During the Qurobo, His Holiness presided over the service of the Saints for the commemoration of King Abgar, and the special procession of the Holy Cross.
