The Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary

16 Aug

On Sunday, August 15, 2021, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak celebrated the Holy Liturgy on the occasion of the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary assisted by Very Rev. Fr. Andrew Bahhi the Parish Priest in the presence of Very Rev. Fr. John Khoury and Fr. Gabriel Alkass at the Church of the Virgin Mary in Paramus, New Jersey. In his sermon His Eminence first congratulated the congregation because their church is consecrated under the Virgin Mary’s name, he then congratulated all those who carry her name. He continued to deliver his sermon about three important points. He spoke about her life, about her assumption and how we should follow the steps of the Virgin Mary the mother of our Savior and God by fearing the Lord so that we can one day be praised. His Eminence also encouraged the women to take an example of the faithfulness and servitude from the Virgin Mary. In conclusion His Eminence gifted Very Rev. Fr. Andrew Bahhi by presenting him the Holy Cross for recognizing his faithful service to the Church for four years and called him a “father, friend and a brother” to all the parishioners at the church.
