Under the auspices and in the presence of His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mor Aphrem Center hosted a pilgrimage trip to our forefather’s homeland from October 4th-18th, 2022.
During the trip they first visited the Syriac Orthodox Church of the Virgin Mary in Istanbul and paid a brotherly visit to His Eminence Mor Philoxenus Yusuf Cetin. From there they also go to see the newly under construction church which is located in Yesilköy.
The second visit was also to the Church of the Virgin Mary (Meryem Ana) in Diyarbakir. Followed by a visit to His Eminence Mor Philoxenus Saliba Ozman at Deyrulzafaran Monastery in Mardin.
The fourth visit was to His Eminence Mor Timotheos Samuel Aktas at Mor Gabriel Monastery. After that, they visited Mor Yakup of Nisibin and Dayro D’Mor Augin and from there a trip was made to Urfa and the pilgrimage paid a visit to Sts. Peter & Paul Syriac Orthodox Church there.
The pilgrimage was concluded by visiting His Eminence Mor Gregorious Melke Ürek, at the Church of Mor Pretors and Mor Paulos in the city of Adyiman.
Aside of the pilgrimage the group visited Nemrut Mountain and Cappadoccia.
The pilgrimage had the chance to visit the footsteps of where many of our Syriac faithful saints, walked, were taught and performed many miracles through God’s strength. We pray that the prayers and pilgrimage visit is accepted by our Lord Jesus Christ.
