On Friday, December 1st, 2023, the Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church for the Eastern United States hosted the Pan-Orthodox Christmas Concert at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Paramus, New Jersey. The concert was organized by SCOOCh (the Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches) There were various choirs representing the Oriental Orthodox Churches gathered in celebration of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ.
His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak welcomed all Prelates, Clergy and faithful who attended. During the course of the evening, choirs representing the Syriac, Coptic, Armenian, Malankara (India), Ethiopian, and Eritrean chanted Nativity hymns in their respective languages.
Our Archdiocesan Choir, conducted by Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Chamoun prepared a beautiful performance from our traditional Syriac Christmas Hymns. The hymns were chanted from the Annunciation period leading to the Nativity.
The concert was concluded by closing messages from His Eminence Mor Titus Yeldho thanking all who prepared and came to support in watching, and His Grace Bishop David in his final remarks mentioned that “Tonight we had visited Syria, Armenia, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, and Eritrea listening and chanting in unity and in harmony with all of our hymns.”
