RU Suryoyo (Rutgers University Suryoyo) Bible Study

26 Mar

On Monday, March 25th, 2024, RU SURYOYO (Rutgers University Suryoyo) held a Bible study session with His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak at St. Moses and Anba Abraam Coptic Orthodox Church in Piscataway, New Jersey. The discussion was about how we can be either a “Martha or Mary” in our lives.

During the session, His Eminence shared the message from the story of Mary and Martha, which is mentioned in Luke 10:38-42. The story talks about Jesus’ visit to the sisters’ home, where Martha was busy with the tasks of hospitality, while Mary chose to sit and listen to Jesus’ teachings. His Eminence explained how we can easily get distracted by the things around us, just like Martha, and lose our focus on spiritual learning and presence.

His Eminence reminded the youth that when Martha complained about Mary’s choice, Jesus kindly reminded her that Mary had chosen the better path by prioritizing spiritual learning and presence over worldly concerns. This passage emphasizes the importance of focusing on spiritual values and the teachings of Jesus.

The session concluded with His Eminence thanking Abouna Gregory and Abouna Morkos of St. Moses and Anba Abraam for their hospitality and welcoming everyone.
