On Sunday, April 21, 2024, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak celebrated the Holy Liturgy in the presence of V. Rev. Khuroyo Gabriel Adde, at St. Peter’s Church in Hicksville, New York and St. George’s Church in Brooklyn, New York.
During the sermon, His Eminence spoke about the passage from Mark 10:46-52, which tells the story of the Healing of the Blind Man. He emphasized the significance of Bartimaeus’s recognition of Jesus as the promised Messiah, the Son of David, despite his physical blindness.
His Eminence reminded the faithful that like Bartimaeus, we too may experience spiritual blindness. However, through unwavering faith, we can call upon Jesus to illuminate the darkness within us and lead us toward spiritual enlightenment.
He concluded by asking the faithful to reflect on their relationship with Jesus and to ask for their eyes to be opened to see and follow Him truly.
