Christ Has Risen from Among the Dead!
On Sunday, May 5, 2024, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak celebrated the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Paramus, NJ, assisted by Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Chamoun the Parish Priest of the Cathedral.
During the sermon, His Eminence spoke to the faithful about considering the stone that was a part of Jesus’ tomb as more than a physical barrier — it symbolizes the spiritual and emotional obstacles we always face. “These are our trials, doubts, and fears that sometimes seem impossible.” He also mentioned that the open tomb found is not merely an empty space; it is a profound invitation from God, and it calls us to witness where our Lord Jesus Christ laid and to step into a life transformed by His resurrection.
His Eminence concluded by telling them that God is working in our lives, and as we prepare to leave the Church, let us not simply acknowledge the Resurrection as a historical event, but actively live out its transformative power, facing our challenges with renewed faith, and trusting in God to move our ‘stones,’ just as assuredly as He moved the stone from the tomb.
After the Holy Liturgy, He blessed the congregation and wished them all a blessed Resurrection Day.
