On Saturday, May 4th, 2024, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, in the presence of Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Chamoun, celebrated Holy Qurobo of Saturday of Lights, at the St. Mark’s Cathedral in Paramus, New Jersey.
In his sermon His Eminence spoke about the meaning of Holy Saturday, Saturday of Light, in the Syriac Orthodox Tradition where Christ descends to Hades and shines His Light in the darkness of death.
His divine victory over sin and death shined into the deepest parts of the darkness that is death, and all those righteous that had previously died Adam and Eve and the descendants, now are raised and given life through the Light, Christ our victorious Lord.
