Holy Liturgy at Mor Gabriel Church

5 Sep

On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, His Eminence Mor Augeen Alkhouri Nimat, celebrated the Holy Liturgy in the presence of His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, V Rev. Fr. Joseph Shabo, and V. Rev. Fr. Aziz Hadodo at Mor Gabriel Church in Haworth, New Jersey, on the occasion of the Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Feast of the Patron Saint of the Church, Mor Gabriel.

During the service, His Eminence Mor Augeen Alkhouri Nimat delivered the sermon based on Luke 9:27-36. He described the moment when our Lord appeared in divine glory, explaining that this revelation, though partial, serves to renew and strengthen our faith. His Eminence emphasized that Jesus’ brief unveiling of His glory to His disciples was meant to rejuvenate us, helping us to be reborn in His light.

He concluded his sermon with a powerful reminder: Jesus calls us to a new birth in His name, and the Exodus symbolizes our liberation from the bondage of sin and darkness. This moment is an invitation to live fully in acceptance of Christ, to serve Him diligently, and to reflect His image in our daily lives.
