On Saturday, August 17, 2024, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak celebrated the Holy Liturgy at St. Helen Parish in Indiana, with assistance from V. Rev. Fr. Samer Yacoub Youhanoun.
During his sermon, His Eminence focused on the Life and Lessons of the Virgin Mary, also known as Bthulto Yoldath Aloho, Mother of God.
He highlighted Virgin Mary’s faith and obedience, particularly in the face of fear and uncertainty, just as it was written in Luke 1:38, where Mary responds, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word,” he emphasized how her acceptance of God’s will serves as a powerful example for all believers.
His Eminence spoke on Virgin Mary’s profound humility, which stands as a significant contrast to a world that often glorifies self-promotion and pride. He reminded the faithful that Virgin Mary’s humility is a call for us to embrace the same, recognizing our dependence on God.
He concluded his sermon by encouraging the faithful to reflect on the life of the Virgin Mary, and that her example offers profound lessons in faith, humility, perseverance, and intercession.
He urged everyone to strive to emulate these virtues, trusting in God’s plan, embracing humility, enduring trials with faith, and praying earnestly for others.
