Holy Liturgy at St. Mark’s Cathedral

9 Sep

On Sunday, September 8, 2024, in the presence of His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, and of our Sister Armenian Orthodox Church His Eminence Daniel Findikyan, V. Rev. Joseph Chamoun celebrated the Holy Liturgy at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Paramus, New Jersey.

In his sermon, Archbishop Findikyan reflected on the Gospel reading of the day, Mark 10:35-45. He highlighted Jesus’ teaching that “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.”

He emphasized that Jesus, despite His wisdom and miraculous deeds, He did not seek any recognition for Himself. Instead, He served to exemplify true love. He mentioned that Jesus served in order to illustrate for us love, and without love there is no service and without service there is no love.

Archbishop Findikyan concluded by reminding the faithful to embody Christ’s love in their interactions with one another, affirming that at the core of our faith is a God of profound love.
