“Imagine Peace” The international peace conference organized by Sant’Egidio in Paris 2024

Upon the invitation of the Sant ‘Egidio Community, from September 22-24, 2024, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak participated in the “Meeting for Peace,” an event organized by the community since the Assisi meeting in Italy in 1986. This year, the conference was held under the theme “Imagine Peace.”

The opening ceremony was attended by many spiritual leaders and several prominent global figures, including French President Emmanuel Macron, who delivered a speech on the occasion.

His Eminence, Archbishop Kawak, took part in a panel discussion titled “The Witness of the Martyrs,” during which he delivered a speech addressing the Syriac Genocide, known as “Sayfo.” He also spoke about the ongoing persecution of Christians and other minorities in the Middle East. He concluded his address by discussing “imagining peace in a secular society” and the importance of working towards achieving it.
