Holy Liturgy at St. Stephen’s Parish in Miami, Florida

9 Jan

On Saturday, January 4, 2025, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, in the presence of Rev. Fr. Alan Shaltan, celebrated the Divine Liturgy for St. Stephen’s Parish in Miami, Florida, on the occasion of the Feast of Epiphany (Denho).

In his sermon, His Eminence reflected on the significance of Epiphany in the Syriac Orthodox tradition, focusing on the theme The Revelation of God to All Nations. He mentioned to the faithful that we celebrate the glorious Feast of the Epiphany, known in our Syriac Orthodox tradition as Denho, meaning the shining forth and that this feast commemorates the baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ in the River Jordan and the revelation of the Holy Trinity: the voice of the Father from heaven, the Holy Spirit descending like a dove, and the Son standing in the waters. His Eminence also reminded the faithful that it is a day when God’s divine light shines upon us, showing the way to salvation. He concluded by saying may the light of Epiphany fill our hearts and lead us to a deeper relationship with Christ, so that we may become living witnesses of His love and truth in this world.
