On Saturday evening, April 19th, 2025, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak celebrated the Holy Liturgy on the occasion of the Resurrection of our Lord assisted by V. Rev. Fr. Joseph Chamoun, V. Rev. Fr. Joseph Shabo, V. Rev. Fr. Saliba Saliba, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Alkass, and Rev. Fr. Joseph Shammas at St. Mark’s Cathedral.Abuna Joseph Chamoun delivered his sermon to the faithful during this blessed celebration. He began by reflecting on the meaning of the Resurrection not just as a historical event, but as a present invitation to receive new life through Jesus Christ. He encouraged everyone by reminding them that, without Christ, we may be physically alive but spiritually lifeless.
Abuna also shared that through the mercy and love of God, we can all be made alive again. He offered real-life stories of people whose lives were completely changed because they accepted the Risen Lord into their hearts. These stories showed that resurrection isn’t just something we read about it’s something we can live and experience today. He finally concluded by calling everyone to rise with Christ to leave behind fear, sin, and doubt, and walk in the new life that Jesus offers.
