On Thursday, August 7, 2025, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak celebrated the Holy Liturgy for the Suryoyo Summer Camp children and leaders at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Paramus, New Jersey.
During his sermon, His Eminence engaged the children with a simple Q&A titled “Jesus Shines!” He invited them to participate in a conversation about the Transfiguration of our Lord, helping them understand this special moment in a way they could easily relate to. He asked the children questions like, “Who went up the mountain with Jesus?” He reminded them that on that mountain, Jesus’ face shined like the sun, and His clothes became bright white showing that He is truly God. He asked, “Who appeared and spoke with Jesus?”
His Eminence reminded the children that Jesus told His disciples not to be afraid and the same goes for us today. He concluded by asking, “What do we learn from this?” and shared that when we follow Jesus, His light can also shine in us when we are kind, loving, and helpful.
