The Suryoyo Youth Gathering (SYG-USA) took place from Jul 10th-13, 2025, hosted by St. George Syriac Orthodox Parish in San Fernando, California. This year’s event theme was “Faith Over Fear,” inspired by Joshusha 1:9.
Youth from both the Eastern and Western Archdioceses and participants from Canada and Europe gathered to deepen their encounter with Jesus Christ and experience the fullness of Christianity in our Syriac Orthodox faith. The event also included various Spiritual and outdoor social activities, encouragement, fellowship, and community.
On Sunday, July 13th, Their Eminences,Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan, Mor Dionysius John Kawak, and Mor Andrawos Bahhi, celebrated the Holy Liturgy in the presence of V. Rev. Fr. Boutrous Rouboz, V. Rev. Fr. Saliba Kassis, V. Rev. Fr. Anton Sabha, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Hanna, Rev. Fr. Tony Yacoub, V. Rev. Fr. Saliba Er, and Rev. Fr. Joseph Shammas, marking the conclusion of the gathering.
The speakers during SYG-USA were His Eminence Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, His Eminence Mor Andrawos Bahhi, V. Rev. Fr. Boutrous Rouboz and Molly Mechammil Samaan. The gathering was filled with spiritual activities, discussions, group discussions, a spiritual and confession night, social activities like a trip to Santa Monica Pier, and a Gala.
We thank the SYG-USA Committee for their warm hospitality and hard-working preparation, which made this gathering a truly wonderful, fruitful, and successful event.
