On Sunday, October 17, 2021, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak celebrated the Holy Liturgy at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Paramus, New Jersey, assisted by Very. Rev. Fr. Joseph Chamoun in the presence of His Eminence Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf the Archbishop of Mosul, Kirkuk, Kurdistan, and Environs. Archbishop Kawak welcomed Archbishop Nicodemus and asked him to speak to the congregation about life in Iraq and how they are holding on strong in their faith. His Eminence Mor Nicodemus spoke about serving two masters, “although we lost and left everything behind, we did not lose our faith in Christ, and we only serve Him.” His Eminence Mor Dionysius then gifted him the icon of the Virgin Mary as a token of appreciation for working so hard and serving our Iraqi faithful and giving them the strength to keep strong in their faith to our Lord Jesus Christ.
