Under the auspices of His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, the Educational Programs Committee hosted its annual Sunday School Teachers’ Retreat at the Mor Aphrem Center from November 3-5, 2023.
The Local and out-of-state teachers attended from across the Archdiocese for a weekend of spiritual growth and fellowship. All attendees were welcomed by His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak and he shared a few steps on how to be prepared for this noble role in the Church.
The weekend was centered around the privilege, purpose and power in teaching the children of our Church. Friday evening Bible Study was conducted by Abouna Maroutha Hanna and focused on the importance of Psalm 51 in our Orthodox faith.
Workshops on Saturday were given by Abouna Anthony Andrews, Ramona Malki and Sara Candan. The weekend concluded with Holy Liturgy on Sunday morning at St. Mark’s Cathedral followed by lunch at the Church of the Virgin Mary.
The 2023 Retreat was dedicated to Linda Khoury, whose unwavering faith and dedication to the Sunday School program will forever inspire us and resonate in all our hearts.
