Day 2 of the Suryoyo Family Gathering: A Day of Reflection and Unity
On Friday, July 26, 2024, the second day of the Suryoyo Family Gathering began with a sense of peacefulness as we began our day with morning prayers. In the morning, we had the privilege of splitting into two groups for enriching spiritual lectures for our different age groups. The adults attended a lecture by Rev. Fr. Michael Sorial, who explained the harmonious relationship between faith and works. His message emphasized that true faith is not merely a belief but is reflected through our actions and how we interact with the world around us.
Meanwhile, the Youth were moved by Rev. Fr. Joel, who delivered an inspiring message on how “Faith Moves Mountains.” His talk connected with the younger generation, encouraging them to bind their faith as a powerful force that can overcome challenges.
Also in the afternoon, His Eminence Mor Augeen Alkhouri Nimat addressed the Jr. Youth with a compelling message titled “Giants Aren’t Always What They Seem.” His words were a call to recognize that the obstacles we face might not be as impossible as they appear, and that faith and perseverance can reveal their true nature.
The day continued with His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, who also delivered a lecture on “Building a Christ-Centered Home.” His lesson is a reminder of the importance of mutual support and service in building a strong, loving relationship within our families and communities.
As the evening approached, the gathering reached a calm and reflective time with a Spiritual Night. The faithful came together for meditation and the chanting of Syriac Orthodox hymns, creating an atmosphere of united worship and peace.
Day 2 of the Suryoyo Family Gathering was a witness to the strength and depth of our shared faith, and a reminder of the importance of nurturing both our spiritual and communal bonds. We look forward to the continued blessings and insights that tomorrow will surely bring.
