On Sunday, January 19, 2025, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak visited the Mother of God of the Zunoro Parish in Jacksonville, Florida. During his pastoral visit, he celebrated the Holy Liturgy assisted by Rev. Fr. Rami Moamar.
In his sermon, His Eminence reflected on the passage from John 1:43-51, focusing on the words “Come and See.” He explained how this moment shows Jesus calling His disciples, an encounter full of divine meaning and blessings. His Eminence emphasized that Jesus calls each of us personally by name. He referenced the words of Isaiah: “I have called you by your name; you are Mine” (Isaiah 43:1), highlighting that our relationship with Christ is not just about being part of a group but about a deep and personal bond with Him.
He also spoke about the importance of being witnesses to Christ in our daily lives. Quoting the Lord’s words, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14), he encouraged the faithful to reflect Christ’s love and truth in everything they do.
Finally, His Eminence reminded everyone that Jesus knows us even in our weakest and most fearful moments. He referred to Psalm 139:2, where David says, “You understand my thoughts from afar,” to show how deeply the Lord knows and cares for each of us.
He concluded the sermon by encouraging the faithful to open their hearts to Christ’s call and to trust in His love and understanding. He reminded everyone that by responding to this call, we can live as true witnesses of His light and grace in the world.
