On Sunday, July 6, 2025, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak celebrated the Holy Liturgy at St. Ephrem Syriac Orthodox Church in Washington, D.C., assisted by Fr. Aphram Alfham.
In his sermon, His Eminence reflected on the Gospel of Matthew 14:14–23, portraying our Lord Jesus Christ as the Good Shepherd, who sees His people with compassion, who calls His disciples to share in the work of feeding others, and who withdraws in prayer to commune with the Father.
His Eminence reminded the faithful that Christ not only understands our needs but also invites us to participate in His mission, offering our gifts no matter how small for the building up of His Kingdom.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a town hall meeting was held to inform parishioners of the latest developments concerning the future parish hall.
