Holy Liturgy Sanctification of the Church | St. Mark’s Cathedral, Paramus, New Jersey

19 May

On Sunday, November 2, 2025, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak celebrated the Holy Liturgy at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Paramus, NJ, assisted by V. Rev. Fr. Joseph Chamoun, on the occasion of the Feast of the Sanctification of the Church. During the Holy Liturgy, His Eminence also recognized the Sunday School Students of the Month, who were each presented with a certificate in appreciation of their dedication and good example. In his sermon, His Eminence reminded the faithful that the Church is not just a building, but the living Body of Christ and the holy people of God, set apart for His glory. He spoke about what it means for the Church to be sanctified, that it belongs to God and must remain holy.

He encouraged everyone to live a life of holiness by remembering God’s grace, removing idols and distractions, repenting of sin, and recommitting their lives to God. He told the faithful that true holiness is not about impressing others but about loving and glorifying God through our daily lives. His Eminence concluded by reminding everyone that the Feast of Sanctification marks a new beginning a time to renew ourselves, our families, and our parishes in unity and love, becoming living stones in the holy Church of God. He prayed that the Lord blesses everyone, shines His face upon them, and fills their hearts with peace.
