Holy Liturgy Circumcision of the Lord & New Years Day

5 Jan

On Saturday, January 1, 2022, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, celebrated the Holy Liturgy in the presence of Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Chamoun the Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Shabo, and Very Rev. Fr. Andrew Bahhi at St. Mark’s Cathedral. In his sermon His Eminence spoke about how entering into the New Year of 2022 reminded him about the people of Israel in the Old Testament entering into the promise land and standing by the borderline. He asked the faithful what they think and feel about being at the same borderline and entering in to the year 2022. Archbishop Kawak also mentioned that our Holy Syriac Church celebrates the circumcision of our Lord in the beginning of the New Year is nothing but a sign of the covenant, and we must dedicate and rededicate ourselves to the Lord. His Eminence concluded by wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year.
