On Sunday, May 25, 2025, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak celebrated the Ceremonial Communion at St. Matthew the Hermit Syriac Orthodox Church in Sterling Heights, Michigan, assisted by Rev. Fr. Daniel Alkass. In his sermon, His Eminence addressed the children, reminding them of Jesus’ words: “Let the little children come to Me” (Luke 18:16), and encouraged them to stay close to Christ through prayer, love, and participation in the Holy Liturgy. He advised parents to nurture their children’s faith at home and to bring them regularly to church, as Scripture teaches: “Train up a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6). His Eminence also expressed his sincere appreciation to the Sunday School teachers, choir, deacons, clergy, and all who contributed to preparing the children for this sacred milestone.
