Holy Ceremonial Communion | St. Matthew’s in Westroxbury,

16 Oct

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, assisted by V. Rev. Fr. Anton Sabha, celebrated the Holy Liturgy and Ceremonial Communion for the children of St. Matthew’s Syriac Orthodox Church in West Roxbury, Boston. The children, clothed in white as a symbol of purity and joy, approached the Holy Altar in a meaningful celebration of their spiritual growth. Though not their first time receiving the Sacrament, this occasion served as a joyful and solemn declaration of their identity as members of Christ’s Holy Church.

His Eminence extended heartfelt appreciation to V. Rev. Fr. Anton Sabha, the Sunday School team, the families, and all who played a role in preparing the children for this blessed day. His Eminence delivered his sermon reflecting on the Holy Qurbono as a life giving encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ. He emphasized that the Divine Liturgy is the center of our Christian life and encouraged every household to faithfully participate in it each Sunday, drawing life and strength from the Body and Blood of our Savior. He also gently reminded the children that when we receive Holy Communion, Jesus Himself comes to live in our hearts. His Eminence concluded by mentioning that through the Eucharist, we are united with Christ and with one another as one family in faith.
