On October 4 and 5, 2025, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, accompanied by Rev. Fr. Joseph Shammas, Youth Priest of the Archdiocese, made a pastoral visit to St. Matthew Parish in Boston.
On Saturday evening, His Eminence met with the parish youth committee, the parish priest, Very Rev. Fr. Anton Sabha, and Rev. Fr. Joseph. The meeting focused on preparations for SYG-USA 2026, which will be hosted in Boston. Following the meeting, Fr. Joseph led a spiritual gathering for the youth.
On Sunday, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John celebrated the Divine Liturgy, assisted by V. Rev. Fr. Anton and Fr. Joseph. During the service, he ordained a group of young men from the parish as Readers and Sub-Deacons. In his brief remarks, His Eminence blessed the newly ordained Shamoshe and encouraged them in their service. Fr. Joseph then delivered a short reflection on the Sunday Gospel, urging the faithful to honor the Lord’s Day faithfully and to bring their children regularly to church, strengthening their life in Christ.
Following the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence, clergy, newly ordained deacons, and the faithful gathered in the social hall in a spirit of joy for fellowship.
