Holy Liturgy at Virgin Mary Church in Paramus, New Jersey

27 Jun

On Sunday, April 6, 2025 His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak celebrated the Holy Liturgy at the Parish of the Virgin Mary in Paramus, New Jersey, assisted by Rev. Fr. Gabriel Alkass.

His Eminence spoke to the faithful about the powerful story of Bartimaeus, the blind man from the Gospel of St. Mark 10:46–52. He said that although Bartimaeus could not see with his eyes, he saw with his heart and he believed that Jesus was the Savior. His Eminence reminded everyone that we should be like Bartimaeus never afraid to cry out to Jesus when we’re hurting or lost, he encouraged the faithful not to let anything keep them from turning to Christ. “Don’t let the crowd silence your prayer,” he said. “Don’t let fear or guilt keep you from calling on the name of the Lord.”

His Eminece explained that when we are in darkness whether it’s sadness, confusion, or hard times, Jesus is near and ready to help. Just like Jesus stopped for Bartimaeus, He will stop for you too.

He concluded by telling the parishioners that faith like Bartimaeus’ is strong it moves the heart of God.

After the Holy Liturgy, His Eminence attended the Play that was reenacted by the children and faithful of the parish. It is their annual play called Jesus’ Journey, which is a presentation of our Lord and Savior. It was a true joy to watch! We thank and are so grateful for the hard work of the Sunday School and youth for preparing all of this.
