On Thursday December 5th, 2019 our Archdiocese co-hosted a round table on monasteries and monasticism, in participation with the Krikor and Clara Zohrab Information Center at the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church. The goal of the round table was to foster a conversation about the role of monks, monasteries, and monasticism in the life of the Church with an eye to imagining what a 21st century Orthodox monastery in America might look like. His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak and Very Rev. Raban Augeen Alkhoury participated in this round table with Bishop Daniel Findikyan, Primate of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern), Dn. Eric Vozzy and Dr. Roberta Ervine. His Eminence spoke about the origin, and history of the Syriac Monastic life. Very Rev. Raban Augeen gave an idea about the monastic life at the Mor Aphrem Center in the 21st Century.
